The Studio Unites Local Icons to Support Heritage and Youth Spaces

HARTLEPOOL – The Studio, a cornerstone of Hartlepool’s music scene, is proving that its mission goes far beyond the stage. Through a series of collaborative events, the venue has redirected hundreds of pounds in funding to secure the future of two local institutions: the TRYIN HQ Skatepark and the Heugh Battery Museum.

From the Half-Pipe to the Main Stage:

The initiative began in late November 2025, when The Studio teamed up with Hartlepool Rock School for a Christmas fair and musical showcase. While the event successfully raised £400—originally intended for the Rock School—organisers quickly pivoted when they heard that a vital community hub was under threat.

Upon learning that TRYIN HQ Skatepark was at risk of closure, the team decided the funds could do more good there. Trustee Sam explains:

"We heard from our volunteers that TRYIN HQ was at risk. Many of our artists, volunteers, and visitors have frequented that park over the years; some even formed their bands right there on the half-pipe! It was a no-brainer to reach out to Mark and see how he felt about donating the £400 raised to the skatepark instead."

A "Gig for Victory" to Protect Local Heritage:

The momentum continued into February 2026 with the "Gig for Victory" fundraiser. Held in association with the Heugh Battery Museum, the event highlighted the fragile state of the town's historical landmarks.

Tony, a Trustee for both the Heugh and The Studio, noted the importance of preserving Hartlepool’s identity:

"Museums and heritage sites are struggling. Hartlepool has a rich history—from the Heugh Battery on our coast to the stunning HMS Trincomalee at the Royal Naval Museum. Our heritage is what keeps Hartlepool interesting."

In a show of further support, The Studio trustees donated an additional £250 to the museum following the event.
